Dr. Simkins received her Bachelor of Science in food science and human nutrition from the University of Florida. She earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in social and behavioral sciences from Yale University, followed by her Doctor of Medicine from University of Florida. Dr. Simkins then went on to complete her pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University.
Prior to joining Westmed, Dr. Simkins was the chief pediatrician of adoption/foster Care at The Children’s Village in Bronx, NY. In this role, she managed the medical needs of children in the welfare system. Additionally, Dr. Simkins is a newborn hospitalist and clinical instructor of pediatrics for the labor and delivery unit at Mount Sinai West in New York, NY.
Dr. Simkins is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and participates in advocacy work at national, state, and local levels.
Dr. Simkins frequently engages in medical education and community wellness projects. She has an extensive history of giving back to the community and advocating for children’s rights. Her devotion to the community earned her an Outstanding Resident in Advocacy Award during her time as a medical resident.
