OUR MISSION
To link women and girls of African decent to the resources that connect, advance, and strengthen them.
HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT
STSI authored a groundbreaking report, “Still I Rise: Status of Black Women and Girls in Westchester County” in 2019. The four pillars highlighted in the research are the anchors for our collective impact workgroups: 1) Promoting education and careers in STEM and STEAM; 2) Health and Wellness Campaigns, serving as the leading voice in Westchester County on Black Maternal Health; 3) Entrepreneurship, Pay Equity and a Black Business Directory; 4) Advocating for Juvenile and Social justice, via parent cohorts, equity toolkit, and more. STSI holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
There are a number of ways to support STSI, including:
- STEAM/STEM Summer Camp and Year-Round Academy (supporting tutoring, mentoring circles, field trips, etc.)
- Reach for the Stars Higher Education Scholarship Fund
- Westchester Black Maternal & Child Center of Excellence Fund
- General Operating Fund
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” Dr. Maya Angelou
STSI has many events supporting women and girls that would benefit from volunteer support including sharing one’s profession in a mentoring circle, one-on-one mentoring, chaperones, shadowing opportunities, and internships for students.
